Santa Claus in Egypt????

Yes....he does travel all over the world! Every year the big American School here in Cairo has a big Christmas Baazar. It is always so much fun. There are lots of shops selling ornaments crafts made from Egyptians. The money goes to help the needy. There are also fun games for the children and of course Santa is there. As you can see Alia didn't think to much of this bearded character. However, Lydia was quite prepared. She gave him a letter she wrote (random letters she has learned) and asked him for a train. I'm not sure why she wants a train. Alia just wanted to leave as quickly as possible.

A Thanksgiving Breakfast

We spent Thanksgiving day with some close friends. Instead of having the normal big turkey meal we decided to have a huge breakfast. Our friends have a big enclosed balcony at their flat so we had a bright and cheery breakfast. We made belgian waffles, spinach egg quisch, German breads, and fresh juice. We then spent the rest of the day together playing games and watching movies. Unfortunately, we had no American Football. We hope everyone out there had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Cooking time with Mama

Jill loves to bake during the holidays. She always tries to include the girls. She started out this season with making some cookies for Thanksgiving.

As you can see in the pictures the girls did more eating than helping Mom.

The benefits of Home schooling

One of the benefits of home schooling is that you can do it anyplace. While we were at the beach, Lydia had two days of school with a great view. Even though she had a lot of distractions, Lydia paid attention amazingly well and learned the letter "G". Maybe we all need a beautiful environment to work in.

A little break...

After looking for flats for a couple of weeks and working at the same time we needed a couple of days at the beach. The nice thing about Egypt is that even in November the weather isn't too cold to enjoy some time at the beach. Here are a few pictures from our time the past couple of days.

Moving.....

As some of you may know, we have made the decision to move from our present location. I've been looking all over the city for a new flat for our family. We have chosen a new area called Helliopolis for our family. The past couple of weeks I've been looking for flats in this area. We will keep everyone up to date on our new home and location.
